Good times are back for the beleaguered Shahid Kapoor, it seems. The actor who desperately needed a hit to stay in the reckoning especially after his comeback movie, Phata Poster… failed to create any wonders, is today heaving a sigh of relief after Prabhu Dheva’s R…Rajkumar gave him the much needed leverage. With the movie having been declared a hit (the movie collected close to 60 crore at the box-office) Shahid is looking good to break even on the endorsement front as well.
Sources close to the Shahid say that the actor has been approached by several brand advertisers including mobile phones, motorbikes and a shirting brand as well. And it is his out-and-out portrayal of a masala character that is believed to have turned the tables for him.
Says the source, “Such roles were earlier dominated by actors like Akshay and Salman. But a younger actor had never done such an out-and-out masala film with intense action scenes. So for the audience, it was a refreshing change to see Shahid in this avatar. With 'R… Rajkumar' being received well, especially in tier-II cities and towns, these brands are now keen to get him on board and sign a young ambassador with mass appeal, for their products.”
Looks like the New Year augurs well for Shahid Kapoor.
