MUMBAI: Over the years, Dhanush, a well-known actor, has acted in several movies. Following his performances that enthralled audiences, he made his Bollywood debut in the hugely successful 2013 picture Raanjhanaa, which was helmed by Aanand L Rai. He wasn't the first option for the movie, though. The director of the movie has now spoken out about the same thing.
Aanand L Rai took a trip down memory lane and shared what worked and didn't work in his filmmaking career with Bollywood Hungama. The director disclosed that he knew what kinds of movies people wanted to see at the time his film, Tanu Weds Manu, starring R Madhavan and Kangana Ranaut, became a smash. He discovered that in their situation, casting and true stories worked.
Director Aanand L Rai further added, “If I had more faith in myself, I would have made Tanu Weds Manu 2. But I and Himanshu (Sharma) felt that a story like Raanjhanaa needed to be told. An actor who keeps himself simple and lets himself blend into the crowd, which is a difficult thing, I believe, is Ranbir Kapoor, but he was not available at that time and as we were searching for such an actor, we found Dhanush.”
Raanjhanaa was Dhanush's film, and his passion turned him become a national celebrity in an instant. Owing to his phenomenal Bollywood debut, he has received numerous accolades and praise. In addition to him, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Abhay Deol, Swara Bhasker, and Sonam Kapoor all had significant roles in the movie.
He added, “Kriti Sanon heard the narration from Aanand L Rai a couple of months back and has shown interest in getting into the world of this action love story. The story aside, the actress has also liked her character’s arc and the way it transforms in the story.”
