Divya Kumar ropes in five new faces for college drama Yaariyaan

T-Series’ head honcho Bhushan Kumar’s wife Divya Kumar, who makes her directorial debut with Yaariyaan, has roped in five fresh faces who would play the lead characters in her film that revolves around the lives of college students. Talking about her casting decision Divya says, “In the past, several college-based films have cast actors much older than what the role required. I didn’t want to do that just to make the film commercially viable. Audiences today are looking for fresh faces and new talent.” The film has Himansh Kohli and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead roles. The rest of the cast includes Serah Singh, Nicole Faria, Dev Sharma, Evelyn Sharma, Gulshan Grover, Deepti Naval and Sayali Bhagat. The director is also keen on having her target audiences’ opinion much before the film’s release. She intends to show her film to college students and is even open to implementing their suggestions. “Their opinions matter the most since it is a movie for the youth,” she quips.
