MUMBAI: Based on the concept of body shaming, Double XL has been the talk of the town ever since the trailer of the movie of out. The film stars Huma Qureshi and Sonakshi Sinha in leading roles. Directed Satram Ramani, this movie also has Zaheer Iqbal and Mahat Raghavendra.

From the trailer, we got the impression of a perfect recipe of a beautiful story along with a beautiful message. Unfortunately, we cannot say the same about the movie. Finally the movie has hit the big screens and here is the complete review.

The premise of the movie deals with two primary characters Rajshri which is played by Huma Qureshi and Saira Khanna which is played by Sonakshi Sinha. Rajshri, who is an overweight woman, is an aspiring sports presenter. On the other hand, Saira Khanna is another overweight woman who is an aspiring fashion designer, and is trying really hard to display brand. The only thing these two want is people to see their talents and not their sizes. No doubt, the premise of the movie is good but unfortunately, we could not say the same for the movie and it falls flat completely.

The screenplay of the movie is strictly average. There are many dull moments in the movie which will definitely make your interest go down. On the other hand, the direction given by Satram Ramani is average.

Talking about the performances, Huma Qureshi has got a few emotional scenes which will definitely leave you teary-eyed. On the other hand, Sonakshi Sinha also has few scenes to impress which feels very connecting. Zaheer Iqbal was seen repeating his dialogues many times and could have done better in the movie. But, it was a treat to watch actor Mahat Raghavendra.

Talking about the positive point of the movie, it is the subject and the concept which is very much relevant in today's time. Also the BGM of the movie was good and it definitely enhances your movie-viewing experience.

But, the movie has more of negative points. In spite of having a good concept, the execution was very weak. There were several moments in the movie which will bore you and look predictable. On the other hand, repetitive dialogues coming from Zaheer Iqbal will get you irritated at one point. Also, the movie is a victim of bad writing with lots of potholes, weak execution and predictable storyline. All these points make the movie fall flat completely.

Well, having said that, film Double XL is a concept driven movie which has a beautiful message but it fails in every department when it comes to writing, direction and execution. It is a simple movie which can be seen only if you are a Huma Qureshi and a Sonakshi Sinha fan.

Team TellyChakkar goes with 2/5 for Double XL.
