Exclusive: Oscar winning French actor Jean Dujardin shoots in Mumbai

Oscar winning French actor Jean Dujardin shoots in Mumbai

“Do you know Jean Dujardin,” checked our reliable source with us in a post midnight conversation. “Of course we do. He is the actor who won an Oscar for the Artist,” we replied.

“He is right here in Mumbai shooting for his next film with director Claude Lelouch,” chipped in our source.

Wow! Two Oscar winning Frenchmen are currently shooting in our maximum city and not a soul knows about it. Perhaps that is how the French like it – keeping their affairs discreet.

Tellychakkar.com has learnt that Jean Dujardin who acquired immense fame and acclaim post the release of award winning 2011 silent film, The Artist has commenced shoot for his next French film titled, Un Plus Une and major portions of the movie are being filmed in YRF currently.

But why India, we wondered. A little research revealed that Un Plus Une which in English mean A plus is a road movie across India, an initiatory comedy centered on the story of a guy who does not care about anything but what he does. The movie reportedly narrates a love story with four characters: Jean Dujardin, Elsa Zylberstein who plays the wife of the latter), Christophe Lambert and Alice Pol recently seen alongside Dany Boon and Kad Merad in "Supercondriaque.

The shoot for the film kicked off on 6th January and the movie has a six -week shoot in India in Mumbai, Varanasi and New Delhi. The movie is being helmed by renowned director Claude Lelouch (Oscar for Best Foreign Film A Man and a Woman, 1966).

A French website quotes Claude talking about the film and India in glowing terms. “This is a film that excites me greatly for two reasons. Jean Dujardi , first of all, who is really an actor for me. Next, India is also a country for me. This is the country where chaos is incredibly fertile and where the disorder is creative. It really is the country in the world where people live to live. The poor are not so unfortunate  because they are learning lives, and they understand that learning was in trouble and that one day they will have easier lives….This place also tells us that death does not exist. This is the only place where we will explain that the human being is eternal. I like it, especially at the age I am now where I am getting closer to the finishing line…I begin to understand this country and I would like to introduce it to the whole world. So we are making this comedy with Jean. A plus is the formula of humanity to 7 billion,” Claude was quoted saying.

Interestingly, two Indian actors too have been cast in this prestigious project, namely Shriya Pilgaonkar (Sachin Pilgaonkar’s daughter) and Abhishek Krishnan. On January 8th Shriya tweeted, “Today I begin shoot fr a French film 'Un plus Une' directed by Oscar winner Claude Lelouche starring Jean Dujardin from 'The Artist' Excited!”

We also found these happy pictures of Shriya and Abhishek posing alongside Jean Dujardin on Facebook.
