Gen-Y can bring positive changes in society: Pallab Mukherjee

9 No. Peara Bagan Lane

Debutant Director Pallab Mukherjee says that Gen-Y and social media could bring positive changes in our society.

He has co-directed the film 9 No. Peara Bagan Lane, which is a family drama where the young generation and social media play key roles.

Talking about the theme of the flick, the director shared with Tellychakkar.com, “The trend of nuclear family is common in today’s time. But earlier, people preferred joint families. I have grown up in a joint family too. So, the crux of this family drama is how two youngsters rebuild broken relationships and unite their family with the help of social media.”

“I feel people of all ages would relate to this story,” he added with a smile.

When quizzed about what made him zero in on social media as the platform to cement the gap in relationships, he quipped, “The film is actually inspired by a real life incident. I have been an eye witness to such a story and the concerned person is very close to my heart.”

He added saying, “My film do not aim to highlight any negativity. As a new director, I would say that the film might have some technical errors but I would appeal everyone to watch it. The film will touch everyone’s heart.”

The director said that the flick had a sequence, which might become a topic of debate.

When prodded further on this, he said, “When it was screened at the Kolkata International Film Festival last year, everyone had the same question that ‘how a mother could do this?’. I would not reveal much now but would say that yes, it actually happened in reality. And I have tried to throw light on this issue in the film.”

“I hope after watching the movie, everyone would start to think positively,” he signed off.

Starring Priyanka Sarkar, Dolon Roy, Ratri Ghatak and others, the film will hit the screens on 18th March.
