The actress is married to actor Riteish Deshmukh and the duo are one of the power couples of the industry. Genelia is a Marathi speaking Christian who originally hails from North Konkan area.

The Jai Ho actress has been  a state-level athlete, sprinter and a National level football player in her college days.

Her first ad shoot was with Amitabh Bachchan and with the success of the ad she signed three films at the age of just 16 years old.

Genelia met her husband Riteish on the sets of their debut film Tujhe Meri Kasam and dated for a decade before tying the knot.

She is an extremely private person and thus no one knew that she and Riteish were dating for a decade.

Genelia and Riteish have two boys; Riaan and Rahyl.

She won her first Filmfare Award in 2006 for the Telugu film Bommarillu.
