Having given us films like Ardh Satya, Aakrosh and Drohkaal among others, veteran director Govind Nihalani is gung-ho about his upcoming animated film Kamlu Happy Happy. “It was a great change for me to switch on to making an animated movie from a realistic movie. Making animated movie was my dream that has now come true. After making films like Ardh Satya, Aakrosh, Drohkaal, etc, it was a very different phase for me to create and execute the characters on the computers but, thank god, it worked out. For this film, we have used international levels of animation techniques. People of all ages will like the movie and will fall in love with Kamlu,” avers Nihalani about his experience of changing tracks to making an animation film. Kamlu Happy Happy is the story of a baby camel who wants to fly. "The protagonist of the film is a baby camel in Rajasthan who wants to fly. Lot of other characters in the film tells the baby camel that it is not possible for the camel to fly without wings. But how and why the camel wants to fly is what the story is about," relates Nihalani adding that the crux of the story is dreaming the impossible and making it happen. Kamlu Happy Happy boasts of voiceovers of many film artistes. Without naming the stars, Nihalani states, “In animation films, stars do add value to the product. The fact is that the presence of stars or even their voiceover for animated films adds tremendous value. The stars also become part of publicity which finally helps the film. With their distinctive voice and acting skills, they bring in the right feel of the animated character. It makes the film more enjoyable.” “I always wanted my film to be the best in India till date. I think my film will put Indian films at par with international ones. I am proud of the final product,” Nihalani adds. Nihalani is very happy with the kind of response that animation films like Arjun-The Warrior, Chota Bheem and Madagascar 3 have been getting. “I am happy about the response animation films have been getting these days.” Asked to give his message to animation filmmakers, Nihalani quips, “I want to request filmmakers to get out of the mythological groove.” Kamlu Happy Happy in set to release mid-August (2012).
