Not long ago, Govind Nihalani, in his zest to change tracks, made the first Hollywood crossover 3D animation film Kamlu Happy Happy.
But the director, who made films like Aakrosh, Ardh Satya, Tamas and Dev among many others wasn’t satisfied and intends to get back doing what he does best. The filmmaker has expressed willingness to make a sequel of his film Drohkaal.
The film dealt with India's fight against terrorism. It shows the mental and psychological trauma that honest police officers go through in their fight against a group of ruthless terrorists.
"People have been suggesting me to make a sequel to Drohkaal to take forward this film. This will not happen immediately. But I would like to follow this thing," Nihalani said.
The 1994-made film not only received positive reviews then, Ashish Vidyarthi won the National Award for best supporting actor for this film.
Meanwhile, Nihalani is busy working on a sequel of his 1983 hit cop drama Ardh Satya. The highly-acclaimed film had Om Puri, Amrish Puri, Smita Patil, Naseeruddin Shah, and Sadashiv Amrapurkar in the lead.
Ardh Satya is the story of a policeman, played by Om Puri, struggling with the evils around him and with his own frailties.
'Ardh Satya' is considered to be one of the best cop films made in India and it went on to win many awards.
"We are busy working on the script; it is in the development stage. We have not locked any actors as of now," Nihalani averred.
Though the makers have not yet finalised the star cast for the sequel but they hope to retain veteran actor Om Puri.
If all goes well the film will go on the floors this Diwali.
