MUMBAI: Director Umesh Shukla, known for films like OMG: Oh My God! and 102 Not Out, returns with his latest offering Heer Express. This time, he introduces fresh face Divita Juneja in the lead role, paired opposite Pritt Kamani. The film also features power-packed performances from veterans like Ashutosh Rana, Gulshan Grover, and Sanjay Mishra, making it a promising mix of newcomers and seasoned actors.

Plot & Storytelling
Heer Express narrates the journey of a young woman (played by Divita Juneja) who travels from Punjab to London in pursuit of her dreams. Her struggles, emotional upheavals, and cultural transitions form the crux of the story. While the premise has potential, the screenplay feels predictable at several points. The first half engages with lighthearted moments and breezy romance, but as the narrative progresses, the film falls into a formulaic trap. The climax, in particular, feels slightly stretched and could have been tighter.

Performances
The highlight of the film is undoubtedly Divita Juneja’s debut. She brings freshness and sincerity to her role, and her emotional graph—ranging from innocence to resilience—is captured well. Her chemistry with Pritt Kamani feels natural and appealing.

Kamani delivers a confident performance, holding his own in both the romantic and dramatic sequences. Supporting them, veterans Ashutosh Rana and Gulshan Grover add gravitas to the film. Their screen presence elevates several scenes that would have otherwise felt ordinary. Meanwhile, Sanjay Mishra, as always, leaves an impact with his impeccable comic timing and emotional depth.

Direction & Technical Aspects
Umesh Shukla’s direction is decent but not extraordinary. He balances entertainment, humor, and emotions well without adding unnecessary vulgarity. The story could have been more innovative, but the visuals—from Punjab’s roots to London’s charm—add authenticity.

Verdict
Heer Express is a lighthearted, family-friendly entertainer that balances romance, comedy, and emotions. While the storyline is predictable and could have explored more depth, the film shines through its performances—especially Divita Juneja’s impressive debut. It is not without flaws, but it does manage to keep you engaged for most of its runtime.
