MUMBAI: Veteran actress and respected politician Hema Malini has shared her first public statement and emotional tribute on social media following the demise of her husband, the legendary actor Dharmendra.
Dharmendra passed away in Mumbai on November 24 at the age of 89.

Three days after his death, Hema Malini posted a heartfelt message on Thursday, November 27, reflecting on their decades-long relationship and the profound impact of his loss.

Sharing a series of family photographs featuring Dharmendra with their daughters, Esha and Ahana, Hema Malini detailed the many roles he played in her life. She wrote, "Dharam ji.He was many things to me. Loving husband, adoring father of our two girls, Esha & Ahaana, friend, philosopher, guide, poet, my 'go to' person in all times of need – in fact, he was everything to me! And always has been through good times and bad."
The actress emphasised his warm and generous spirit, noting how easily he connected with everyone she cared about.
She added that Dharmendra "endeared himself to all my family members with his easy, friendly ways, always showing affection and interest in all of them."
Speaking to his unparalleled career in the Indian film industry, Hema Malini praised his public persona and achievements.
She highlighted his distinctive place among cinematic giants: "As a public personality, his talent, his humility despite his popularity, and his universal appeal set him apart as a unique icon unequalled among all the legends. His enduring fame and achievements in the film industry will last forever."
The actress concluded her moving note by addressing the deep void now present in her life. She stated, "My personal loss is indescribable, and the vacuum created is something that will last through the rest of my life.
After years of togetherness, I am left with myriad memories to relive the many special moments..."
Dharmendra, often referred to by his affectionate nickname ‘He-Man,’ was cremated in Mumbai on Monday.
A prayer meeting has been scheduled for later in the day in a Mumbai hotel, allowing friends, family, and industry colleagues to gather and pay their final respects.
Dharmendra is survived by Hema Malini, his first wife Prakash Kaur, and his six children: Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Esha Deol, Ahana Deol, Ajeeta, and Vijeta. Dharmendra and Hema Malini married in 1980.
