MUMBAI : In a remarkable turn of events, Tumbbad has made history with its re-release, achieving unprecedented box office numbers. The film, originally released in 2018, has now set a new benchmark by grossing ₹1.65 crore on its first day—an astonishing three times the earnings of its original release.

This achievement positions Tumbbad as the largest re-release ever in Indian cinema, surpassing the likes of classic films such as Sholay, Mughal-e-Azam, and Rockstar. The re-release’s impressive day-one performance highlights its enduring appeal and the growing interest in revisiting cinematic gems on the big screen.

The film's success is a testament to its timeless storytelling and the impact it continues to have on audiences. Tumbbad, directed by Rahi Anil Barve, is renowned for its unique blend of horror and fantasy, and its re-release has been met with enthusiastic response from both critics and fans alike.

This record-breaking feat underscores the evolving landscape of film re-releases in India, demonstrating that even past masterpieces can achieve new milestones. As Tumbbad continues its run, it will be fascinating to see how it performs in the coming days and whether it can set even more records in the annals of Indian cinema.

Directed by Rahi Anil Barve and creatively guided by Anand Gandhi, with Adesh Prasad as co-director, the film features a talented team of writers including Mitesh Shah, Prasad, Barve, and Gandhi. Produced by Sohum Shah, Aanand L. Rai, Mukesh Shah, and Amita Shah, and starring Jyoti Malshe and Anita Date-Kelkar alongside Sohum Shah, "Tumbbad" is currently not available on any OTT platforms, adding to the excitement for its theatrical return.
