MUMBAI: In a deeply distressing turn of events, Asif Qureshi, cousin of renowned actress Huma Qureshi, tragically lost his life following a violent altercation with neighbours in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area.
The fatal attack, which reportedly stemmed from a dispute over parking, was caught in its entirety on CCTV – exposing the sheer brutality of the assault.
The incident unfolded on Thursday night in Bhogal Lane, Jangpura, where Asif returned home from work only to find two-wheelers blocking the entrance to his house.
Upon requesting their removal, a verbal spat quickly escalated into a vicious physical attack by two neighbours — later identified as Gautam and Ujjwal, who are brothers.

Graphic CCTV footage, now with investigating authorities, shows Gautam and Ujjwal confronting Asif before launching into a violent assault.
Gautam can be seen holding Asif by the collar, while the dispute intensifies. Moments later, the situation turns fatal as Asif is thrown to the ground and repeatedly stabbed with what appears to be an ice-pick, reportedly carried by Gautam.
Despite desperate attempts by several bystanders – including Asif’s wife Sainaz Qureshi – to intervene and prevent the attack, the injuries proved too severe. Asif was rushed to a nearby hospital in a critical state, where doctors sadly declared him dead upon arrival.
According to police sources, the accused duo had prior run-ins with the victim. Sainaz told authorities that this wasn’t the first time the neighbours had engaged in heated arguments over the same parking issue.
She further alleged that the two had harboured ill intent, choosing to retaliate violently instead of resolving the matter peacefully.
Local reports suggest that Gautam, described as a drug addict with a reputation for erratic and aggressive behaviour, has been involved in several altercations in the area.
His brother, Ujjwal, is known to play the dholak at local religious events and gatherings. Both were arrested shortly after the incident and are currently in police custody.
While the primary motive is believed to be the ongoing parking conflict, investigators are also looking into any underlying tensions that may have contributed to the escalation.
The brutal nature of the attack has sparked outrage across social media, with fans, residents, and public figures expressing their condolences to the grieving Qureshi family and demanding justice for Asif.
The incident has once again brought to light the increasing concerns over neighbourhood safety and rising aggression in urban communities.
Delhi Police have appealed to the public for any further information related to the case and have assured that the investigation is being pursued with the utmost urgency.
This shocking episode stands as a grim reminder of how a seemingly trivial matter can spiral into tragedy, leaving behind a trail of irreversible loss and grief.
