I am aware of my competition in the industry - Yami Gautam

After making a successful debut with the much acclaimed Vicky Donor, one expected actress Yami Gautam to go places by signing up movies with big production houses. But that has not been the case with this pretty actress who has been extra careful in signing the dotted lines in B-town. Yami, who will now be seen in Total Siyapaa, says that she is not a choosy actress as many would like to believe. “I am a newcomer and after getting such a good response for my first film, I think it's just natural to be more careful. As an actor I don't want to do something which I have already done before," says Yami and also adds that she was not interested in doing another film which was similar to the one she had done before. “That is why I took time and I am glad this offer came. It justified the time that I have taken to sign my second film.” Total Siyapaa which also stars Pakistani actor Ali Zafar is a cross border love story between a Punjabi girl (Yami) and a Pakistani boy (Ali). The movie may not exactly be the so-called star studded, big-budget flick but Yami is gung-ho about her new movie and is confident it will do well. “A film is made bigger by its story and not by anything else. A story is the true hero of the film. The same was true even in the case of Vicky Donor. I am extremely confident about Total Siyapaa.” In a fickle industry like Bollywood, where a single hit or flop can make or break your career, Yami looks to be treading with caution as far as her choice of films go. When asked whether she is concerned about other new actresses doing well in the industry, Yami says, “See there is competition and I am definitely aware of it. It is not like am completely aloof or something. But if I work under pressure and shape my career according to others that is not me. Every actress comes with her own mindset. As far as I am concerned, I am not from the industry. I come from another town and without sounding immodest I would like to say that I am very happy to have reached where I am right now. I am also happy doing the kind of films I am doing right now. The biggest plus for me is to see people appreciating my work whenever I go out.” Now that’s well said, Yami! Beauty with enough brains, you are.
