I don't know why people call me 'The Showman' - Subhash Ghai

Showman Subhash Ghai yesterday very candidly admitted that he never really understood why the term 'showman' was bestowed on him. The director earned the moniker after churning out umpteen hits from Hero to Pardes. But looks like the master director never really attached great importance to it. Speaking at the trailer launch of his next release, Kaanchi, Subhash said, “I still don't know why people call me the showman, but I see a showman in every second person I meet in the industry. You switch on the television and you will find a showman. Switch on the radio and you will find a showman there too. So there are many now and and I am happy about it.” Kaanchi is slated to be released on 25 April which also coincides with the time when India goes into polls. Clarifying that this was just a mere coincidence, Subhash said, "I wanted to release the film in December, but as a director I take my own time to complete the film. I never make a film with the release date as the target. It is just a coincidence that it is releasing during elections." Let's wait and see which one is a bigger hit - Elections or Kaanchi.
