On Dharmendra’s Impact and His Bond with Telugu Audiences

“Dharmendra ji was immensely popular among Telugu audiences. In fact, two Hindi film stars who became household names in the Telugu industry were Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra. Even though Amit ji featured in a Telugu film recently, Dharam ji had already won the hearts of people down south.

I was fortunate to meet him two or three times. He didn’t know me personally, yet he showed me tremendous affection and warmth. He simply embraced me with love. His filmography speaks for itself—the original He-Man of Indian cinema, a true macho star, and one of the most handsome actors the industry has ever seen.”

On Hindi Actors Joining Telugu Cinema and the Rise of Pan-India Films

How do you feel about Hindi actors working in Telugu films and the industry now being recognised as pan-India cinema?

“To be honest, there’s nothing to celebrate as separate industries. It’s wonderful that both Hindi and Telugu films today are watched across the country. Films themselves don’t have a language. The shift really happened during COVID, when audiences started exploring movies from different regions.

I’m happy both industries are thriving, and that Indian cinema as a whole is being appreciated nationwide.”

Known for his grounded nature and approachable demeanour, Nagarjuna continues to inspire aspiring actors and filmmakers across the country.

With a legacy built on excellence, innovation and enduring charm, he remains one of the most influential and celebrated icons of Indian cinema—his impact destined to resonate for generations to come.
