MUMBAI : Today, September 8, saw the debut of the teaser trailer for Jigra, which features Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina in the role of a brother and sister. The three-minute short piece, which was directed by Vasan Bala, shows Bhatt going to tremendous lengths to liberate her brother Raina, who is imprisoned. Supported by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and Alia Bhatt's Eternal Sunshine Productions, the teaser trailer has generated a flurry of comments and comparisons among online users.
Following the publication of the teaser trailer for Jigra, many fans compared the film to Divya Khossla Kumar's jailbreak thriller Savi, which is a reimagining of the Russell Crowe film The Next Three Days.
Jigra "looks like Savi," among other remarks that have gone viral on social media, with some even criticizing the business for lacking creativity. "No content left in Bollywood," said one user. "Savi tells the story of a simple housewife who attempts to jailbreak her husband from a high-security prison in England," according to the synopsis of the Abhinay Deo-directed film. But in the teaser for Jigra, which is set to the sentimental song "Phoolon Ka Taaro Ka," Alia Bhatt plays a compelling sister who is motivated to free her imprisoned sister Vedang Raina. Even though jail breaks are a central theme in both movies, any direct similarities between them cannot be evaluated until Jigra opens nationwide.
