MUMBAI: Director Nikkhil Advani and actor John Abraham have collaborated on films such as Vedaa and Satyameva Jayate, but their first collaboration was on Nikkhil's 2007 romantic comedy Salaam-E-Ishq.
With six different love stories featuring John Abraham and Vidya Balan as romantic partners, the film featured an enormous cast. However, John and Nikkhil cut ties after the movie failed and didn't communicate for a long time.

During a conversation on Siddharth Kannan's YouTube channel, Nikkhil revealed, “John and I hardly met after Salaam-E-Ishq. It was only after Satyameva Jaytate where we rekindled our friendship. In between, he was doing his thing and I was doing my thing and we didn’t actually connect.”
Satyameva Jayate was produced by Nikkhil and directed by Milap Zaveri. The film was a surprise hit. It also had a sequel in 2021 which failed miserably. Later, they also worked together in Nikkhil’s directorial Batla House. Nikkhil said that he and John share a warm friendship now. “There is a huge amount of comfort working with him, sitting with him,” he said.
Nikkhil recalled how Salaam-E-Ishq failed and how it really upset him. As a result, he fled Mumbai. He was so sad that he locked himself up in his Alibaug home and avoided even speaking to his daughter. “I ran away from Mumbai and I went to Alibaug. I just went to my bunglow, I just shut everything. I didn’t speak to anyone, not even to my daughter,” he said.
Regarding John's response to Salaam-E-Ishq's fall apart Nikkhil said, “We didn’t talk for 20 years (laughs). After Salaam-E-Ishq, I chose not to talk to anybody.” Satyameva Jayate was released six years ago, and Salaam-E-Ishq was released seventeen years ago. John Abraham and Nikkhil Advani collaborated on Vedaa, which also features Sharvari.
