MUMBAI: According to John Abraham, one should be aware of their country's failings rather than engage in jingoism if they truly love it. The actor claimed that women, children, and animals are not safe in India as a result. He continued, that Indian males should learn how to treat women in society and take on the role of protectors.

John told Ranveer Allahabadia on his show, “Women, children and animals are not safe in India. It is sad. Indian men need to understand how to treat their women. Yeh bohot important hai. Har aurat ke liye, ek aadmi ko ek rakshak hona chahiye. Kyuki main Hindustan se pyaar karta hoon, I’m an India lover, bohot zaroori hai ki main India ko criticise karoon. Patriotism and jingoism main fark hai. ‘Mera Bharat mahaan’ kehne se aap India lover nahi bante ho. Aap tab hi India lover banoge jab aap society main change laoge.”

In the same conversation, he said, “Mera ek hi maksad hai life main ki main apni choti si duniya main society ko change kar sakoon. Jaanwaron ko ek status dedoon. Jaanwaron ki jo haalat hai Hindustan main, it’s getting from bad to worse. Dukh ki baat yeh hai ki jaanwaron ki saftey ke liye ek bhi law nahi nikala hai. Iss point pe argue nahi kar sakte mere saath when I tell you that women, children and animals are not safe in India. Can you debate this? You cannot debate this.”

John's comments are significant in light of the shocking rape and murder case that has shocked the nation in Kolkata. Several celebrities including Richa Chaddha, Parineeti Chopra, Vijay Varma, and Alia Bhatt, have recently discussed the horrifying segment on social media.

Regarding his professional life, John Abraham is presently starring in Vedaa. Vedaa explores the dark and terrible realm of caste-based violence and societal discrimination; it is inspired by real, horrifying incidents. Based on the terrible tales of Meenakshi Kumari, who faced a brutal punishment by an all-male village council, and Manoj-Babli, who were victims of a horrific honor killing, the film revolves around three central individuals caught up in the storm of societal injustice.
