MUMBAI: In Pathaan, Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham had intense on-screen confrontations, but off-screen, they were very much a team. As only the movie star had access to the production data, John disclosed in a recent interview that he regularly called Shah Rukh to seek updates on the film's progress.

Pathaan was produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Siddharth Anand and turned into the biggest blockbuster of 2023. The film marked the actor's victorious comeback to the big screen with John Abraham starring as the frightening enemy against Shah Rukh Khan's patriotic soldier. However, because Aditya Chopra had strict rules of only allowing SRK to see his films, Shah Rukh was the only one closely monitoring his route to success.

In an interview with Ranveer Allahbadia, John shared, “Aditya Chopra is very strict. He doesn’t show his films to anyone, except Shah Rukh Khan! So, whatever information I would get, it would come to me from Shah Rukh. Before the film, I would call him and ask, ‘How is it?’ and he would tell me. He is very sweet. Our energies were fantastic.”

John also reflected on their shared history and the bond they developed during Pathaan. “When my career started, Shah Rukh was my judge, and now during Pathaan, I was working with him. There was a lot of respect and love. He is an extremely smart, intelligent man but is also very caring and cute. We really got along,” he said.

Deepika Padukone co-starred in the smash hit film Pathaan, which broke records and became the first Bollywood movie to gross over Rs 500 crore at the Indian box office. Bollywood history regards Pathaan as a landmark film, even though Jawan, starring Shah Rukh, eventually broke its record with an all-India net box office collection of Rs 640 crore.

Regarding John Abraham, he is getting ready for Vedaa, his upcoming film.  Nikkhil Advani-directed movie also stars Sharvari, will begin release in theatres on August 15. Vedaa will clash with Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein and Shraddha Kapoor's Stree 2 at the box office, promising an intriguing weekend of competition during Independence Day.
