The movie Highway's press conference held yesterday at a suburban movie theater, turned out to be quite an eventful affair. For starters, the launch saw a galaxy of stars making their presence felt- from A R Rehman to Sajid Nadiadwala- but none were ready to come onto the stage to address the press conference. Surprisingly, lead actor Randeep too, preferred to sit in the audience leaving a young Alia Bhatt to face the media along with her director Imtiaz Ali. And the pretty lady did a mighty good job.
All was going well until an over enthusiastic scribe got up and quizzed Alia about the pictures floating over internet that show Alia and Randeep locked in an intimate position with Alia lying down on bed and Randeep atop her. “Were you nervous while doing that intimate scene?” asked the scribe. Before Alia could respond, Imtiaz interrupted and said, “Can we move on to the next question please?” Thankfully, Alia took it upon herself to clarify the entire issue and dispelled the rumour and truth behind the intimate scenes. Alia said that picture is a fake one and neither she nor Randeep has acted in any such scene in the movie.
However, the scribe was not done yet and shot one more question which was an over-the-top one. He asked Alia if she stands on a highway and finds herself stranded between calls of doll and dulhan where would she prefer to look. Alia was flabbergasted while Imtiaz looked highly uncomfortable with this line of questioning. Sensing their inconvenience, the publicist intervened and requested someone else to ask another question. However, by then Imtiaz had enough of all the questions and soon after a couple of more questions, himself announced the end of the press conference much to the chagrin of the assembled media.
While we don't really encourage the antics of the over enthusiastic scribe here, we feel Imtiaz and co could have easily fended off the silly question and moved over to complete the press conference in a more better fashion. And why invite a parade of high profile guests when they are not keen on interacting with the media? That could be a food for some thought for Imtiaz, we feel.
