MUMBAI: Karan Johar’s popular talk show Koffee With Karan has hosted numerous celebrities over the years, including actors, filmmakers, and stars from different industries.
Yet one name fans always wondered about was Indian cricketing legend Virat Kohli, especially since his wife Anushka Sharma has appeared on the show multiple times.
In a conversation with Sania Mirza on her podcast ‘Serving It Up With Sania’, Karan finally explained why he never invited Virat.

Karan said he became extremely wary of calling cricketers after the huge controversy involving Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul.
He shared, “I have never asked Virat. And now, I am not asking any cricketers after what happened with Hardik and Rahul. There are many who I just felt wouldn’t come, so I never asked them in the first place.”
The episode featuring Hardik and Rahul sparked nationwide uproar after their comments about women and dating were criticized as misogynistic.
The backlash grew so intense that the BCCI issued show-cause notices and temporarily suspended both players. Even years later, the controversy continues to shape public perception.
Koffee With Karan has also faced criticism for its format changes, games, and guest list in recent seasons.
Reports indicate that Koffee With Karan is set to make a comeback with an all-new season, sending fans into a frenzy of excitement
