Kriti Sanon expressed ‘deep sadness’ after Adipurush did not perform well at the box office; 'You might even find yourself in tears'

MUMBAI: Kriti Sanon finally talked about the movie more than a year after Adipurush left viewers dissatisfied and angry. The actress who portrayed Sita in the film said in a recent interview that she experienced "deep sadness" as a result of Adipurush's poor box office performance and negative reception from viewers.

“You feel a deep sadness and might even find yourself in tears, wondering what went wrong,” Kriti said as quoted by Indian Express and then added, “The goal is never to hurt anyone’s feelings; the intention behind every project is always positive. However, we must face the reality that sometimes things just don’t click, and it’s crucial to learn from these experiences.”

However, Kriti also explained that as an actor, there wasn’t much she could do in such a situation. “As an actor, the best approach is to stay focused, put in the effort, and concentrate on the next project. There are many variables beyond my control, but I strive to ensure that I fulfil my role to the best of my ability,” she said.

The actress further argued that even though she understands “constructive criticism”, she also “distinguishes between genuine feedback and comments driven by others’ frustration”. “At home, after watching my films together, we have a chai session the next morning where my family gives me honest feedback on what they liked and didn’t like. I believe constructive criticism is beneficial. But it’s important not to let all types of criticism get to you too deeply,” she said.

The release date of Adipurush was June 16, 2023. The epic Ramayana in Hindu mythology serves as the basis for the movie. However, after it was released, the movie received a lot of negative feedback from viewers who thought it had misrepresented the epic. Many expressed dissatisfaction with the dialogues and how Ravana and Lord Hanuman were portrayed in the movie.

The makers of the film changed the infamous "kapda tere baap ka" phrase, but it had no impact. A plea in the Supreme Court was also filed seeking revocation of CBFC certification of the Om Raut directorial. That was dismissed by the top court.

Regarding her career, Kriti Sanon has been spotted in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya and Crew lately.
