MUMBAI: Filmmaker Prithiviraj Sukumaran recently released the first look of the legendary actor Mohanlal on his 64th birthday. L2 Empuraan which is directed by Prithviraj starring Mohanlal in the lead role is a sequel of the blockbuster film Lucifer. In November 2023, L2 Empuraan's first poster showed Mohanlal's back to the camera and a gun in his hand was revealed by the makers.

Where the new poster of L2 Empuraan features the actor in a dashing all-black look — a T-shirt paired with matching jacket and pants. The actor is seen walking along with dozens of security personnel with guns. Sharing the poster on social media handle (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, Prithviraj tweeted, “Happy birthday Laletta! Khureshi Abraam, L2E. Happy birthday Mohanlal.”
Prithviraj’s upcoming sequel was officially announced in August 2022. The first part of the franchise received a good response from the viewers, who saw Mohanlal as the charismatic and enthusiastic Stephen Nedumpally. The official release date of L2 Empuraan is still not revealed.

The movie will be out in Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Recently, photos and videos from the sets of the film have gone viral on social media, showing Prithviraj directing crowd extras.
Birthday boy Mohanlal last appeared in the fantasy drama Malaikakottai Vaaliban, which was directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery. In March 2024, the actor announced his next film, which will be directed by Operation Java and Saudi Vellakka director Tharun Moorthy.
Mohanlal shared a picture with the team on his social media handle and penned a note, “Looking forward to working with Tharun Moorthy and M Renjith for my 360th film. Directed by Tharun Moorthy, the film is scripted by KR Sunil and the director himself.”
