The Aligarh actor was open about the artists on his wish list during an interview with Radio Nasha. Manoj Bajpayee expressed disappointment at not being able to collaborate with Gulzar. Additionally, the actor desired to work with Govind Nihalani on films such as Ardh Satya and Aakrosh. However, Govind was filming his final picture when Manoj made his screen debut. However, the actor is thrilled with the opportunity to collaborate with Shyam Benegal on the 2001 film Zubeibaa.

Manoj Bajpayee went on to say that he wanted to star in a film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. But he thinks the director of Devdas doesn't require performers like him. Manoj joked about the lovely qualities SLB would reveal in him. Saying that the National Award-winning director is a filmmaker of his own type and that his works are distinctive, Bajpayee lauded the man.

Manoj Bajpayee made these remarks after previously disclosing that Sanjay Leela Bhansali expressed interest in working with him on the film Devdas. Bhansali gave Manoj the part of Chunnilal in the Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan film, which was released in 2002. However, things didn't work out for Bajpayee, who intended to take the starring role. Jackie Shroff eventually portrayed Chunnilal in the film.

In the meantime, Manoj Bajpayee released two films to kick off 2024: Bhaiyya Ji and Silence 2: The Night Owl Bar Shootout. The Fable and Despatch are the next two films in which the actor will be seen. This year, he also made an appearance in the web series Killer Soup.
