MUMBAI : When actress Meenakshi Seshadri returns, she intends to take a different approach. Meenakshi, a star in the 1980s and 1990s, immigrated to the US in 1995 following her marriage. The actor stated that she hopes to get in touch and catch up with former coworkers from the film industry in Mumbai during her new phase, especially Sangeeta Bijlani.
The 60-year-old actor stated in an interview that Jackie Shroff, her co-star in Hero, was the first person she contacted when she got back to India. She stated that it was not unexpected that Jackie greeted her warmly in Mumbai and accompanied her to movie premieres to which he was invited. She said, “He is one person I reached out to after coming back. He has been very sweet inviting me several times for events in Mumbai. Maybe he wants me to feel included and welcomed. That’s his unique quality. In my first innings, I didn’t really believe in making friends and hanging out with them but this time around I do. Another friend I want to meet is Sangeeta Bijlani.”
She added, “The success of Hero could not be repeated, because the few films Jackie and I did after that, the audience didn’t get what they wanted. They didn’t get that romance, the story of Jackie and Meenakshi. I feel bad about that, because with the right kind of films, him and I could have done some really nice movies together.”
Meenakshi has been part of films like Hero, Meri Jung Shahenshah, Ghayal, Damini and Ghatak.
