Good news for all the fans of funny man Mir!
The popular anchor-cum-actor has been roped in to essay the role of Columbus in director Saurav Palodhi’s maiden venture Colkata-e Columbus.
At a recent set visit when Mir was quizzed about the film he answered in his trademark witty style to a group of reporters, “The way you were searching us (for quotes), the people in this film are also searching for something.”
The Bengali film Colkata-e Columbus is a satirical comedy, which explores people’s desperate need to look to a hero for giving their life a direction, a purpose.
Mir said about his role, “Columbus has an idea that no one can be a bigger explorer than him in this world. Christopher Columbus is Christopher Columbus after all. In the film, there are some people who are looking for something and they come across Columbus who tries to help them out in their mission. Basically, Columbus is trying to be their GPS.”
“To suit the year 2016, Columbus has been given this look (check the above photo). I won’t be able to reveal beyond this or else the charm of the plot will be destroyed,” he added.
The Ashchorjyo Prodeep and Bhooter Bhabishyat famed actor admitted that he was little apprehensive whether he would be able to pull of the character or not. He said that it was his director who helped him to break his mental barrier and play the role of Columbus.
It’s a comedy film and he too is a renowned funny man. So, when asked if he has given any inputs to the debutant director, he quipped, “I have surrendered myself completely to Saurav. I have been given the brief of my character the way he has envisaged and I am following that.”
“I might imagine a particular scene in a different way but that does not mean the film has to include my imaginations because what if that turns out to be an unnecessary addition! Every director has a bird's eye view of his film and I respect that,” he added.

The film also stars Gaurav Chakrabarty, Tanushree Chakraborty, Ritabhari Chakraborty, Suchandra Vaaniya and Anirban Bhattacharya in pivotal roles.
