New Claims by Shradha Suri Deepen Doubts Over Priya Kapur’s Will as Karisma Kapoor and Children Challenge Its Authenticity

MUMBAI: Fresh testimony before the Delhi High Court has intensified doubts surrounding the Will produced by Priya Sachdev Kapur, third wife of the late industrialist Sunjay Kapur. Arguments from Shradha Suri Marwah’s counsel have sharpened concerns that the document may not reflect Kapur’s
true intentions, especially given the exclusion of his children with Karisma Kapoor — Samaira and Kiaan.

A major issue is Suri’s shifting account of how she first received the alleged Will. It was  initially emailed on 14 June by Dinesh Agarwal— wherein he informs Shradha that she’s the executor and shares a copy of the alleged Will. Agarwal allegedly sent the wrong attachment first, then resent the “correct” Will later that day. Legal experts note that such confusion, combined with Agarwal’s unexplained involvement, is highly irregular and raises serious suspicions.

Another very intriguing development is that initially Shradha stated in her original statement that she received the physical alleged Will from Dinesh but now she seeks to change her stance. Shradha now claims that after seeing Priya’s statement, she now remembered that it was Priya and not Dinesh who gave her the original of the alleged Will.

Suri’s own testimony adds to the doubts. Apart from her shifting stance on who gave her the original of the alleged Will, she admits she did not know she was named executor, had no access to the drafting lawyer despite asking, and lacked clarity about the Will’s contents. Her request for indemnity from Priya an extraordinary move for an executor suggests deep apprehension about defending the document.

Adding to the contradictions, Priya Kapur has confirmed she is only a nominee, not a beneficiary. Under Indian succession law, nominees merely hold assets in trust, weakening her claim to full ownership and undermining the Will’s premise. If the Will is invalidated, Sunjay Kapur’s estate would devolve equally to all Class I heirs, including Samaira and Kiaan.

These developments add to existing red flags: the Will is unregistered, not notarised , contains factual errors, shows digital inconsistencies, and is allegedly based on a flawed template. With each hearing, the dispute looks less like a routine inheritance case and more like one marked by procedural opacity and conflicting narratives leaving Sunjay Kapur’s true intentions more uncertain than ever.
