MUMBAI: Veteran actor Renuka Shahane, known for her impactful performances across film and television, recently shared a disturbing personal experience from her early years in the industry.
Reports reveal that the actress recalled an incident where a producer propositioned her despite knowing she was married.

Renuka said, ‘A producer came to my house many years ago and directly propositioned me, saying that even though I’m married, he wanted me as the brand ambassador for his saree campaign, offering a stipend and suggesting we live together. My mother and I were shocked. I refused to do the campaign, and he took it elsewhere’
Renuka went on to highlight the darker side of the entertainment industry and the repercussions faced by women who resist or speak up. ‘Either you get thrown out, or they gang up to trouble you further. You’re denied payment if you quit. It’s a whole group that unites to victimise the victim again.’
Her account sheds light on the power imbalance and mistreatment women continue to face in the industry, reminding audiences of the courage it takes to speak out.
