While Ram Kapoor has effortlessly conquered the small screen where he is the undisputed superstar, he's yet to replicate that success on the silver screen. Seen mostly in supporting roles in movies these days, Ram is quite happy at playing the second fiddle in Bollywood.
“Sometimes it is all about working with a good director that matters. When Nagesh offered me a role in Lakshmi, the length of the role was immaterial. I just wanted to do Lakshmi because it is a Nagesh Kukunoor film. Similarly, when Karan Johar offered me Student Of The Year, I said yes because it is a Karan Johar movie and I wanted to work with him. So who you are working with matters rather than the roles you are doing. That is the way you can build a relationship in Bollywood,” explained Ram.
Surprisingly unlike television where he is the superstar, Ram doesn't nurse any desire of becoming a star in Bollywood. He would rather be contend being known as a good character actor. When quizzed about the reason behind the same, Ram said, "My inspiration comes from actors like Pankaj Kapur, Sanjeev Kumar and Naseeruddin Shah. They are all character actors. Although, everyone loves seeing stars, I have never really aspired to be one."
Ram Kapoor will next be seen in a triple role in Sajid Khan's Humshakals.
