Sanam Teri Kasam actor Harshvardhan Rane opens his heart out, says, ‘I behave like that very silly cricketer’ - Exclusive

MUMBAI: Sanam Teri Kasam has made it big this time with its re-release. The first time when the movie released it was 2016 and while it did not perform well at the box office, the emotional reactions from audience spoke volumes.

Now, in 2025, after 9 years of its initial release, the movie has hit the big screens and it has got not just old fans back but new ones as well. Finally, the movie is getting its due success and it’s so powerful that even new releases are feeling the weight.

Harvardhan Rane is recognized and loved very much for his role in the movie as main lead. The character’s journey, his emotions and his chemistry with the female lead Mawra Hocane has all touched the heart of audiences and this time, box office has reflected this love very well.

In an exclusive conversation with Tellychakkar, Harshvardhan Rane opened his heart out and talked about selecting Sanam Teri Kasam as a movie for his debut.

The actor said, “I was very strongly impulsive and instinctive about this ki yeh mujhe karna hai. Kai doston ne mujhe poocha ki ‘Are you sure this is your debut film? Tujhe kuch happy nahi debut karna? Jaise sab log karte hai, Happy film se debut hona chahiye, Itna rona dhona hai, itni sad film hai, are you sure?’ I was like ‘This is something I’m most sure about. This will be my debut film and this will be the character I will walk in with.’ Fir jab woh film nahi chali sir toh phir mujhe...many a times I say this but I behave like that very silly cricketer jo jab apni batting kar leta hai aur jab uski team haar jati hai toh chup ho jata hai. So if you must have realised ke jab koi team haar jaati hai toh silence hota hai dressing room mein aur team ki bas mein shanti ho jaati hai. So I behaved like one of those cricketers. It was not correct on my part and I accept that mistake.”

Sanam Teri Kasam had a massive 6 Cr collection on a Sunday and even did an amazing 3-3.5 Cr collection on a Monday. These numbers are amazing for a Hindi in recent times.
