MUMBAI: Sanjay Leela Bhansali is currently receiving recognition for his most recent web series release. Following the huge success of Gadar 2, Heeramandi had already requested that Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel retire. Every actor's dream director is Bhansali, so hearing such a thing from the legendary filmmaker is disheartening, but there's more. In an interview, the Gadar 2 actress disclosed that Bhansali requested to retire, citing her two films Gadar and Gadar 2 as examples of accomplishments in her career that many women haven't encountered in their lifetime.

Ameesha said in an interview, “Mr. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, after watching Gadar, wrote a really beautiful letter, complimentary letter to me. And when I had a meeting with him, he said, ‘Ameesha, you should retire now.’ I said, ‘Why?’ He said, ‘Because you’ve already achieved in two films what most people don’t achieve in their entire career. Once in a lifetime, a Mughal-e-Azam, a Mother India, a Pakeezah, a Sholay gets made. You had it in your second film. So what’s next?’ I didn’t understand it at that time because I was a kid, so new to the film world.”

Ameesha Patel replaced Kareena Kapoor in the Hrithik Roshan film Kaho Na Pyaar Hai to make her Hindi film debut. Gadar, together with Sunny Deol, was the largest turning point in her career. Twenty-two years later, she released the sequel and was greeted with the same level of success and affection.
