MUMBAI: For over three decades, Rocky Kaushal and Darshan Mehta have shared an exceptional creative journey with Sonu Nigam, delivering more than 200 live concerts worldwide. What began as a professional collaboration has grown into a bond built on trust, shared vision, and an unwavering commitment to elevating Indian live entertainment overseas.
This legacy reached a historic milestone with “Sau Saal Pehle – Sonu Nigam Live in Concert”, a tour promoted by Rocky Kaushal and Darshan Mehta in association with Bhavna Anand and Gajendra Singh. The tour became a complete sold-out success across New Jersey, Chicago, Dallas, San Jose, and Hamilton, reinforcing Sonu Nigam’s global appeal and the promoters’ credibility.
Rocky Kaushal shared, “Every city was sold out before we even opened doors. The love for Sonu ji and Rafi Saab’s legacy was overwhelming. This wasn’t just a concert — it was an emotional homecoming for audiences across America and Canada.”
Rocky ji’s foundation in live music was shaped under the influence of the legendary Jagjit Singh ji, with whom he toured globally, curating more than 300 shows. Those years taught him that when Indian audiences gather abroad, they don’t come only for music they come for belonging, for memory, for home. This sentiment continues to drive every concert he executes.
Darshan Mehta added, “We’ve curated shows for decades, but the response to this tour was historic. Sonu ji delivered a performance that audiences will speak about for years. The tour reaffirmed why Indian live entertainment overseas is experiencing its strongest era.”
A highlight of the show was the segment where Sonu Nigam performed alongside the digitally recreated voice of the legendary Mohammed Rafi through advanced AI. The moment felt like time collapsing into itself, a blend of nostalgia, innovation, and reverence.
For Sonu Nigam, this tour held deep personal significance.
He said, “I have been an admirer of Rafi Saab since the 5th standard. I used to sing his songs at school, and my teachers lovingly called me ‘Chota Rafi.’ I grew up watching my father, Agnel Nigam ji, sing his songs on stage. His influence shaped me. That’s why this tour, this tribute, feels incredibly close to my heart.”
With the support of contributors Rishi Kejriwal, Pritpal Bansal, and Vinay Vashisht, the tour ran seamlessly, becoming more than a series of concerts it became a cultural celebration.
As applause from packed arenas settles, one truth stands out:
Some promote shows.
They build legacies.
