MUMBAI: Actor Ángel Salazar, who portrayed soldier Chi Chi for Al Pacino in the crime thriller Scarface in 1983, passed away at the age of 68. The representative and confidante of the Cuban-American actor, Ann Wingsong, told TMZ on Sunday that Salazar, who had a history of heart issues, passed away while he was asleep at a friend's house.

Wingsong revealed to the site that Salazar was discovered dead in bed when a buddy went to check on him. The outlet claims his cause of death was not disclosed right away.
In the film, which also starred Michelle Pfeiffer, Steven Bauer, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, F. Murray Abraham, late actors Paul Shenar and Robert Loggia, Salazar played a criminal accomplice of Pacino's drug boss Tony Montana.
Salazar's breakthrough performance in the Brian De Palma film came after roles in films including 1982's A Stranger Is Watching, 1980's Where the Buffalo Roam, 1979's Walk Proud, and 1979's Boulevard Nights.
After learning of Salazar's death on Sunday, several of his friends and coworkers paid tribute to the late performer on X/Twitter.
