MUMBAI: Son of Sardaar 2 storms onto the screen with all guns blazing—delivering a masala entertainer that’s equal parts hilarious, heartwarming, and unapologetically Punjabi.

Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, this follow-up yet standalone brings back Ajay Devgn as the lovable Jaswinder “Jassi” Singh Randhawa, and the man hasn’t lost his comic mojo one bit.

The plot kicks off in London where Jassi arrives to reunite with his wife Dimple (Neeru Bajwa), only to find she’s moved on—and wants a divorce. Thrown out and broken-hearted, Jassi’s misfortune leads him to Rabia (Mrunal Thakur), a feisty Pakistani entrepreneur who runs a wedding dance company. What starts as a simple act of kindness snowballs into a riot of mistaken identities when Rabia convinces Jassi to pose as the traditional Indian father of a girl in love with a boy from a conservative Sardar family.

The plan is to win over the strict patriarch Raja Sandhu, played with flair and punch by Ravi Kishan, who is hilarious as a cross between a lion-hearted Sardar and a no-nonsense Bihari. As the lies pile up and cultures collide, Jassi must balance his broken heart, fake persona, and budding chemistry with Rabia—all while avoiding getting exposed.

Ajay Devgn is in terrific form here. His comic timing, emotional beats, and physical comedy anchor the film and remind us why he’s still a box-office magnet. Mrunal Thakur, making her full-fledged commercial debut, fits right in with her graceful presence and effortless performance.

Deepak Dobriyal is the unexpected gem, playing Gul, a transgender character who’s equal parts hilarious and heartfelt—bringing sensitivity without losing the fun.

The supporting cast, including Chunky Panday, Kubbra Sait, Sanjay Mishra, Vindu Dara Singh, Ashwini Kalsekar, and the late Mukul Dev, all pitch in with quirky characters and memorable moments.

Visually, the film is stunning—shot across Scotland, London, and Punjab, with vibrant colours and grand sets that add to the festive feel. The music pumps life into the story, with tracks like Pehla Tu Duja Tu, Nazar Battu, and Nachdi being both catchy and emotionally driven.

The writing is snappy, the gags are clean, and the pacing keeps you engaged right through to the big climax—which, by the way, holds a fun surprise that fans won’t want to miss.

What really works for Son of Sardaar 2 is its heart. Beneath all the comedy and confusion, there’s a strong message about love across borders, family unity, and cultural harmony.

Produced by Devgn Films and Jio Studios, the film celebrates differences while reminding us of our shared humanity. This film hits all the high notes of a classic Bollywood entertainer—big laughs, big emotions, and even bigger dance numbers.
