Stree 2 director Amar Kaushik on content copying, “Hum yahaan se copy karte hai, apni root se jaate hai…” - Exclusive

MUMBAI: Stree 2 has been raving at the box office and there’s no competition to it. Stree 2 starring Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, and Pankaj Tripathi has been winning the hearts of audience right from its first day of release on 15th August with special screenings for fans on the evening of 14th August.

The movie is directed by Amar Kaushik, written by Niren Bhatt and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande. Right on its opening day, the movie gave record-breaking collections of Rs 50 Cr with Rs 8.35 Cr collections on 14th August.

In exclusive interview with Tellychakkar, the director of the movie, Amar Kaushik opened up the process of ideation and the content of his movie which gave pretty insightful vision into the process of the filmmaking.

Amar kaushik said, “See sochta main yahi se hu jahaan se sab sochte hai lekin yeh hai ki mera jo team hai woh bohot hi kamaal ki team hai mere paas. Mera writer bohot kamaal ka hai, mera associate bohot kamaal ki hai, mere producer toh alag hi kamaal hai. Toh inn sab ke saath jab main baith ke hum jam karte hai na toh apne aap cheezein aati hai aur hum log kabhi bhi kisi ko reference point nahi maante Kabhi bhi. Toh humare koi reference point nahi hote, you know. Aur sabse badi cheez, jo cheez ho chuki hai woh hum nahi karte. Koi batata hai team se ke sir yeh ho chuka hai… aur hum bahar se chura ke, ya bahar se copy kar ke apni kahaani nahi banate. Hum yahaan se copy karte hai, apni root se jaate hai, apni woh patli-patli kitaabe hoti thi na jo 20-25 panno wali, unse kahaani dhundte hai, unse situation dekhte hai, toh mera dimaag sirf inhi logo mein hai.”

Talking further, the director added, “…audience bohot chalak hai, bohot samajhdar hai. Woh bichare film nahi bana paa rahe, utna hi farak hai. Sirf utna hi farak hai but woh humse zyada baatein karte hai, hum se zyada ghuse rehte hai, hum toh apne ek chhote se kamre mein ghuss ke film bana rahe hai, who puri duniya mein ghoom rahe hai, aur who log aapas mein interact bhi kar rahe hai rooted logo se unn logo se jo alag-alag jagah se aate hai…toh main toh service kar raha hoon audience ki. Audience mujhe bolti hai picture banao, banana ka mauka de rahe hai toh main bana raha hu. Jab taka chi bana raha hoon tareef sununga. Kharab banaunga toh gaaliya sununga but main imaandar rahunga. Woh main manta hoon.”
