MUMBAI: Stree 2 is one of the most anticipated films which stars Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, and will open in theatres on August 15, 2024. The movie Stree 2 is highly anticipated by fans, however, it should be noted that it will clash with John Abraham's Vedaa and Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein at the box office.
Producer Jyoti Deshpande highlighted the film's clash and said that the simultaneous releases will guarantee "survival of the fittest" during the film's trailer debut on Thursday.
“There are only 52 weeks in a year. We don’t release films during Hindu rituals (Shradh), IPL, Ramdan, and if some Khan film is releasing or a big South Indian film is releasing that leaves us with only 20 weeks. The clash is bound to happen. So it’s survival of the fittest, the jungle law,” the producer said as reported by the news agency.
Deshpande further shared that they are “super confident” for Stree 2 and added, “We are coming with the feeling ki Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar”.
Stree 2 finally went on floors last year in July in Chanderi, a town in Madhya Pradesh where the first instalment of the horror-comedy franchise was also set. The film also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee in lead roles.
Stree was released in 2018. At the box office, it became a commercial success after opening to widespread critical praise. The movie's hit songs Milegi Milegi and Aao Kabhi Haveli Pe became enormous hits and attracted a lot of attention as well.
The crowd also has nostalgic recollections of Kamariya, which featured a stunning Nora Fatehi who attracted a lot of attention with her moves in the song.
Amar Kaushik is directing Stree 2 and Dinesh Vijan's Jio Studios and Maddock Films are producing it. It belongs to the horror-comedy universe of the producer, which also features films like Bhediya, Roohi, and Stree. Tamannaah Bhatia will also have a special item song in the movie.
