Subhash Ghai responds to allegations from actress Nehal Vadoliya warns of legal action

Subhash

MUMBAI: Renowned filmmaker Subhash Ghai, widely regarded as one of the most respected names in Indian cinema, has now found himself at the centre of controversy. Actress Nehal has levelled accusations of misconduct against the veteran director, and the matter has quickly become a major talking point. Breaking his silence, Ghai has finally addressed the allegations, issuing a firm response to the claims made against him.

Veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai, often hailed as one of Bollywood’s most celebrated directors, has once again found himself in the spotlight—though this time, not for his cinematic achievements.

The director, who delivered several blockbusters through the 1990s and early 2000s, is facing allegations of misconduct from actress Nehal Vadoliya.

Nehal, in a recent interview with Galatta Plus, recounted a troubling experience she claims took place at the director’s residence. According to her, she had accompanied her then-boyfriend to Ghai’s home, where she consumed alcohol.

She alleged that later in the evening, while stepping out of a washroom, she encountered the filmmaker in close proximity. Vadoliya claimed that Ghai kissed her cheek and appeared to move towards her lips—an incident which left her shaken.

Explaining why she did not file a formal police complaint, Nehal said she was too traumatised at the time to take action and the thought of approaching the authorities did not occur to her.

Ghai, however, has firmly refuted the allegations and announced his intention to pursue legal remedies. In a strongly worded statement, he said:
“I want to make it clear that any individual attempting to malign my reputation, or that of my companies and team members, through false accusations will be held accountable under the law. My legal team is fully prepared to take strict action against any defamatory claims.”

The filmmaker further added that genuine grievances should be taken to the police or the appropriate legal authorities, rather than being aired on social media for publicity. “Resorting to unverified claims online is misleading to the public and unlawful,” he remarked.

As the situation continues to unfold, all eyes are on the potential legal battle ahead. With both sides standing firm, it remains to be seen whether this matter will be resolved in court or through another course of action.
