MUMBAI: PVR INOX, India’s largest and most premium cinema exhibitor, is bringing Tanu Weds Manu Returns, one of the most loved romantic comedies, marking a decade since its original release in 2015. Starting September 26, audiences across the country will once again get to experience the laughter, love, and unforgettable characters on the big screen.
Directed by Aanand L. Rai and starring Kangana Ranaut and R. Madhavan, Eros International film Tanu Weds Manu Returns broke new ground in 2015 with its bold storytelling and layered portrayal of women. Kangana Ranaut’s extraordinary double role—as the free-spirited Tanuja “Tanu” Trivedi and the fierce, ambitious Kusum “Datto”—remains one of the most acclaimed performances in contemporary Indian cinema. Her portrayal challenged stereotypes of women on screen, giving Indian cinema one of its most iconic feminist characters. The film not only won over critics and audiences alike but also set new benchmarks at the box office, becoming one of the highest-grossing films of 2015.
Speaking about the re-release, Pradeep Dwivedi, Group CEO, Eros Media World said “We are delighted to partner with PVR INOX for the re-release of 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' as it marks a decade since this cultural phenomenon first captivated audiences. This film represents everything we stand for at Eros - bold storytelling, authentic characters, and cinema that sparks meaningful conversations.
The film also ignited conversations about individuality, freedom, and the evolving dynamics of relationships in modern India. Its sharp wit, unapologetic female voice, and powerful cultural resonance have made it as a film that continues to inspire debate and admiration ten years on.
The re-release is part of PVR INOX’s ongoing initiative to celebrate landmark films that have defined Indian cinema over the years. With its timeless story, definitive characters, and unforgettable music, Tanu Weds Manu Returns continues to hold a special place in the hearts of moviegoers.
The film will be re-released across India in select theatres. Booking details and theatre listings will be available soon on the official PVR INOX app and website.
