KOLKATA: The trailer of the upcoming Bengali flick Generation Aami was released this week, and the first song of the film Tor Sathereleased today.

Generation Aami is the first collaboration between SVF and director Mainak Bhaumik. The film centers on two generations and their emotions. It focuses on the special bond shared between siblings during their lifetime. The story revolves around Apu and his cousin Durga. A 17-year-old Apu’s relationship with his parents is tested as he discovers teenage rebellion and fun in the company of his cool-but-troubled 19-year-old cousin who shakes things up giving him the courage to be true to himself. This is a coming-of-age story of friendship, parenting, growing up, and finding yourself.

What makes this film special is the fact that the script, which has been penned by the director himself, chronicles his own teenage life.

The trailer starts with the introduction of Apu and his parents and the sudden entry of his chhordi (cousin) in their lives. This changes Apu’s life forever. Apu, who otherwise spent hours cramming textbooks, now dreams of pursuing his passion and aspirations amidst growing tension in his family.

The song Tor Sathe is composed by music director Arindom Chatterjee and sung by Sudipto Chowdhury and narrates beautifully the first breath of independence that Apu, a rule-abiding teenager, experiences in the company of his cousin Durga and his other friends.

Positive about the response to the trailer and music of the film, Mahendra Soni, Co-Founder and Director, SVF said, ‘This is the first time we are working with Mainak, and we are happy that the trailer of Generation Aami has garnered great reviews from across the city. I’m sure the film will be liked by all. I’m confident that the soul-stirring music by Arindom will also make a mark among the audience.’

Rwitobroto Mukherjee essays the character of Apu, and Sauraseni Maitra will be seen as his cousin Durga. Actors Shantilal Mukherjee, Aparjita Addhya, Lily Chakraborty, and Anusha Vishwanathan, among others, play pivotal roles in the film.
