In an exclusive interview with Vidya Balan prior to the release of her film, Do Aur Do Pyaar, the actor opened up on being arguably the only female actor today for whom scripts are specifically written.

Vidya Balan said, “I don’t know what they are thinking but yes I’m very grateful to be in a place where people are writing stories with me in mind. I feel very privileged to be in that position because you know a lot of times, for example, even with Do Aur Do Pyaar, Swati Iyer, the producer came to me with the idea of the original film and once I told her that I was interested she got it written. So I feel I was lucky enough to be part of the process from the very beginning. So you know for example, I remember telling her let’s make this light-hearted, the original film is a bit intense, and she (Swati Iyer) said yeah yeah absolutely that’s what we want to do. I had wanted that but in all honesty she said that’s what they want to do. That’s the approach we want to do. So we were on the same page from the very beginning. It’s great, like you said I’m in a position where people will at least listen to me and I feel that’s a blessing because sometimes people come to you with a full script and you feel that maybe it’s too late to change things but if there were a few things that were different maybe this would’ve appealed to me more. It’s a great idea but I’m not connecting that much.”

Even Pratik Gandhi added to the response and said, “And imagine using this power, selflessly, for the betterment of the script and telling a good story is not common. When you watch the film you will realize this.”
