MUMBAI : Son of Sardaar 2, starring Ajay Devgn, has sparked yet another controversy following the denial of Sanjay Dutt's visa. The producer of the movie unexpectedly fired Vijay Raaz from the picture. According to sources, Vijay was fired because of his alleged inappropriate behavior on site. The film's makers disclosed that Vijay Raaz has now been replaced with Sanjay Mishra in the role.
In an official statement, co-producer Kumar Mangat Pathak stated that Vijay Raaz was taken off a film because of his actions on the set. Not only did he pay for a vanity van and better accommodations, but he also allegedly paid spot boys more than other leading actors—roughly Rs 20,000 a night. He was provided ordinary lodgings, but he demanded deluxe suites.
Pathak further stated that Vijay became irrationally hostile and persisted in making outrageous demands, even going so far as to ask for two automobiles for a crew of three when he was questioned about the expenses.
Opening up about the incident, Vijay said, “His constant response was, ‘Aap logo ne mujhe approach kiya, main kaunsa saamne se aya kaam mangne’. While we tried to accommodate all his demands, the behaviour kept getting worse, as his demands never ended.”
According to Vijay Raaz, he was kicked out of the movie for not welcoming Ajay Devgn to the set. Raaz was early and saw Ajay Devgn, but he declined to say hello because it appeared like Devgn was busy. He received word that he had been kicked out of the movie shortly after that.
He concluded saying, “Mangat came to me and said, ‘Aap Film Se Nikal Jaaye, Hum Aapko Nikal Rahe Hai’. The only misconduct from my end is that I didn’t greet Mr. Ajay Devgn. I didn’t even meet the crew, and these are the only people I interacted with. I was removed from the film 30 minutes after reaching the sets, as I didn’t greet Ajay Devgn. These are powerful people, and the chatter of misconduct doesn’t arise at all.”
Pathak gave his side of the story saying, “There is no place for unprofessional behaviour. It’s a good thing that we removed him before the start of the shoot, as his presence and behaviour would have created a lot of issues on the set. We didn’t remove him for not greeting Ajay Devgn, we have removed him for unreasonable demands and misconduct with the crew. He has now even refused to pay back the advance he has taken.”
There were also reports that Vijay Raaz was removed as his drunk Spot Boy sexually assaulted a hotel staff. To this Raaz clarified, “These are two different stories and there is a difference of at least 10 hours in the two episodes. I was removed from the film on August 4 at 2 PM and the episode at the hotel took place at 11 PM on August 4. Don’t try to mix the two. I have nothing to do with it. However, I don’t encourage such behaviour. I am no longer working with the spot boy.”
SOS 2 is directed by Vijay Kumar Arora and produced by Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande.
