Vivek Oberoi Thanks Sanjay Gupta For Coming To His Defence In Nepotism Debate; 'It Feels Unfair When People Make Uninformed Comments'

A netizen called Vivek Oberoi 'Nepotism Born' on Twitter. To this, filmmaker Sanjay Gupta reverted saying that Vivek put in a lot of efforts to bag a role in his debut film COMPANY

MUMBAI: The word Nepotism is being highly discussed on social media post the untimely demise of Sushant Singh Rajput. Netizens and his fans have called war against Bollywood's bigwigs for not giving opportunities to outsiders. Many celebrities too have come out and spoken about it.

Meanwhile, on Twitter, Vivek Oberoi got dragged in, in this nepotism debate. Someone called him 'nepotism born' as he is the son of famous actor Suresh Oberoi. However, filmmaker Sanjay Gupta came to his rescue.

Replying to the 'nepotism born' tweet, Sanjay Gupta wrote, "What absolute nonsense. Do you have any idea what all he did to bag Ramu’s COMPANY? His Dad had no role to play in it. And his performance... definitely one of the best debuts of all time. @vivekoberoi." The Saathiya actor soon reverted and thanked Sanjay Gupta for all the kind words. He even expressed disappointment and hurt over the nepotism remark.

Vivek Oberoi tweeted, "Thank you Gups for standing up for the truth. Many of us chose the harder path and believed in sheer talent and merit. It feels unfair when people make uninformed comments like this, one such comment can brush away years of struggle and perseverance."

Meanwhile, talking about Sushant's death, Vivek Oberoi was among those few who made it to the crematorium and became a part of his last rites. He had then penned a letter narrating his experience.

He wrote, "Being at Sushant's cremation today was heartbreaking. I truly wish I could have shared my personal experience and helped him ease his pain. I've been through my own journey of pain, it can be very dark and lonely. But death is never the answer, suicide can never be a solution. I wish he stopped to think of his family, friends and the millions of fans who are feeling this tragic loss today..he would have realised how much people CARE! When I saw his father today, having to light the fire at the cremation, the pain in his eyes was unbearable, when I heard his sister weeping, begging him to come back, I can't express how deeply tragic it felt."
