MUMBAI: Veteran actors Dharmendra and Shatrughan Sinha have long shared one of Bollywood’s warmest friendships, one that goes beyond sets and spans decades of mutual admiration, affection, and shared memories.
Their bond resurfaced beautifully in an episode of The Kapil Sharma Show, where Sinha narrated a humorous yet heartfelt anecdote involving Dharmendra’s unexpected but comforting advice during a difficult moment early in his career.
Shatrughan Sinha recalled a time when he was supposed to shoot his very first song publicly. The track was “Shor Mach Gaya Shor,” and the young actor was overwhelmed by the massive crowd gathered to watch.
Nervous and unsure of how to face the audience, he went straight to Dharmendra for help. Sinha shared, “My first song was to be shot publicly. It was ‘Shor Mach Gaya Shor,’ and I was very nervous.
I had never danced in front of an audience before, and when the shooting started, thousands had gathered. I didn’t know what to do. I went to our elder brother, Dharmendra and said, ‘Please tell me how to do this. I can’t do it. How did you perform your own song Rafta Rafta?’
Dharmendra, in his signature warm and humorous style, told him, “Just do what I did.” When Sinha asked him exactly what that meant, Dharmendra replied, “Just drink a little.”
The playful advice left everyone laughing, including Dharmendra himself. Sinha said the moment not only broke his fear but also deepened his respect and affection for the superstar, who always knew how to lighten any situation.
Over the decades, the two actors have shared impressive on-screen chemistry.
From Shatrughan’s debut Pyar Hi Pyar to films like Blackmail, Zalzala, and even a cameo appearance in Yamla Pagla Deewana 3, their collaborations reflect their easy camaraderie.
Recently, their bond made headlines again when Shatrughan Sinha visited Dharmendra amid reports of the latter’s health concerns.

Dharmendra had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital for declining health and was kept under careful supervision.
After several days of treatment, he was discharged on November 12 and taken home, where his family decided he would continue recovering in privacy.
Sunny Deol’s team released a statement saying, “Mr Dharmendra has been discharged from the hospital and will continue his recovery at home.
We kindly request the media and the public to refrain from any further speculation and to respect his and the family’s privacy.” The message also expressed gratitude for the love and prayers coming from fans across the world.
