MUMBAI: Panipat was one of the awaited movies of the year 2019, the film starred Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Kapoor and Kirti Sanon in lead roles. The movie is helmed and produced by ace director Ashutosh Gowariker.

The movie released last Friday and the periodic drama is having difficulty alluring the audience to the theatres as well. The Arjun Kapoor starrer which revolves around the epic battle of Panipat has managed to mint Rs 2.25 crore at the box office on its first Tuesday, according to the latest Boxoffice India report.

With a total collection of Rs 22.25 crore from five days, Panipat looks to be having a similar fate as Paglapanti which turned out to be a flop. Though the performance was really good the film has fizzled out in many parts of the country with business in Maharashtra also turning out to be poor.

The movie is also facing a backlash in Rajasthan due to the wrong facts being projected in the film, and the hashtag #boycottpanipat had also gone viral a few days ago when netizens took to social media to voice their opinion about the wrong facts being projected in the film.

With the ban on the movie and the having a low box office collection the movie to become the biggest disaster of the year 2019.
