In an interview with Anupama Chopra, Tabu spoke about her equation with the departed actor. She said, ''I have learned a lot, he affected me a lot and I think I changed a lot after working with him. He is like one of those people who come into your life and redefine things and make you see things in a very different way. I learned how to be completely true to your character and how to be true to yourself and bring that earnestly to a character. I can’t even begin to talk about how he has affected me and the experience that I had with him and what he meant to me. But I can definitely say that what I shared with Irfan onscreen I have not and I don’t know if I can share that with anybody and people can see that.”
Tabu has also collaborated with Director Vishal Bharadwaj a lot and people have always loved the magic that happens with this director-actor combination. Tabu spoke about her longstanding equation with Vishal Bharadwaj and also working with his son Aasman Bharadwaj she said, “Vishal Sir and Aasman are very different. Aasman is very clear about what he wants and he has a very clear vision and he knows how to incorporate it. He is clear about how he sees his movies and his characters, and I have never seen a happier director than him and he has his own cinematic language he likes to use. His fundamentals are very similar to Vishal”.
On how Vishal Bharadwaj gets amazing performances out of her, she said, “It's been a long story of love and admiration over a lifetime and he is somebody I would want to take to another life as well. I think our relationship defines the work that we have done together, it is a lot of love and respect and I think because the foundation was so strong. And it's been 30 years of friendship and family. It is very special how he writes for me and how he sees me and it has been career-defining”.
