Oscar 2015: Birdman flies away as the big winner

The night of glitz and glam at Oscars 2015 belonged to Birdman as it flew home with four important awards of the night - best picture, director, for Alejandro González I?árritu, cinematography and original screenplay. Not far behind was The Grand Budapest Hotel” which made merry as it too bagged four honours namely production design, costume design, original score and hair and makeup. Of course, there were multiple disappointments as hot favourite Boyhood which made waves at all other award ceremonies preceding the Oscar and was the hot favourite to win the Oscars for the Best Picture was left with just one Academy Award. The other major disappointment being Michael Keaton (Birdman) losing out the best actor award to Eddie Redmayne. Unpredictability was the word for 87th Academy Awards.
