Sameer Mody talks about writing for Daniel Weber starrer Dangerous Husn

Sameer Mody and Daniel Weber

The man of words, Sameer Mody, who rose to fame writing some of the best scripts for TV shows, is now geared up for his first movie venture with Dangerous Husn. The film that has Sunny Leone’s husband Daniel Weber as the lead, has got Sameer onboard as a script and screenplay writer.

“I had been wary of writing for movies as I felt that a writer then works on lines of other people’s perception than himself. But my friend Dinesh Tiwari, who is the director/producer of Dangerous Husn, knows my capability and asked me to write for him. This film will be one of a kind and will deal with the emotion of fear.”

Talking more about the film Sameer adds, “The film is about a love story that goes wrong and how the girl returns to seek revenge. There is not a single gory scene or any bloodshed as fear is more relatable. Also since it is a love story people will get to enjoy music and dance too. As for Daniel, since we needed a guitarist we approached him, and thankfully he came on board having rejected 16 previous offers by others.”

The writer who has shows like Fear Files, Sshh…Koi Hai, X Zone, Thriller at 10 and a lot many under his belt feels he strength lies in this genre. “I think horror is a concept that works best for episodics. A story can be beautifully revolved around it, but it’s sad that people feel that prosthetics and noise can create horror. The story can only work if the fear lingers in you long after you have switched off the TV. I still remember working on a Holi special horror story that gained a great response. When you can work out a scary story on a happy festival, it is quite impressive indeed.”

Talking about the recent trends in TV, Sameer said, “Today people just want to play safe and stay stuck to one point episodes after episodes. When a theme can get over in two episodes why stretch it to twenty? One needs to build confidence in their writing and try experimenting. Also channels should become open to finite series and give new content a chance on TV.”

And lastly sharing a couple of tips for young budding writers, the talented creative shared, “’Your eraser should be bigger than your pencil.’- I really believe in the concept. A good writer is someone who can be able to create a work that not only speaks his thoughts but also of others. Be true to yourself and have confidence in yourself. Writing is a challenge and you should be always up for it and paint a beautiful picture that should express a lot of people’s thoughts.”

Great tip it is! And Sameer, wish you loads of luck and success!
