How we love mushy romances. Boy meets girl. Sparks fly. Wooing happens and then they fall in love. Phir Se seems to have all that and much more. But at the center of this love story is the couple's acrimonious past involving messy divorces.
Both Kunal Kohli and Jennifer Winget play divorcees (having been previously married to different partners) who rediscover love once again in life and decide to get married yet again. The plot seems good enough to attract viewers given that it is not your usual run-of-a-mill story.
If the trailer is anything to go by, one can expect a lot of Hum Tum styled romance, comedy and drama in Phir Se. Director Kunal Kohli who is both acting and directing in it seems to have effectively stepped into a role that is usually tailor made for Saif. So from soaking in foreign locations to asking girls why they visit washrooms together, Phir Se is replete with stuff that will be enjoyed by the multiplex going audience. The songs sound eerily similar to Hum Tum and other mashed up versions of Kunal's other movies.
The thing to look for in the movie will be the two debutants. It's welcome back time for Jennifer Winget. The lady who has been lying low after her splitsville with ex husband Karan Singh Grover looks pretty in the trailer. She exudes the innocence and the vulnerability required to be showcased by her character.
Kunal plays an age appropriate role though we would like to see more before commenting on his acting capabilities. Having proved his mettle as a director especially in the romantic genre, we are sure Phir Se will offer us especially jilted lovers a new perspective in life and love.
The film is produced by Shiv Kumar under the banner of Bombay Film Company Ltd, is directed by Kunal Kohli and Ajay Bhuyan. The film also stars Rajit Kapoor, Dalip Tahil, Kanwaljeet Singh and Sushmita Mukherjee Bundela.
