Udta Punjab trailer is gripping!

First of all, kudos to the team for coming up with such a relevant theme. Drugs Di Ma Di is how we should roll...even though it's each to his own.

The trailer juxtaposes the lives of four people- a druggie rockstar, a substance-abused migrant worker, a diligent cop and a straight-shooting doctor. When their paths cross, all hell breaks loose.

Shahid Kapoor as Tommy, the rockstar reminds us of his Kaminey days. He is part aggressive and part passionate, the perfect concoction for a film like this. He's supported by the spontaneous Alia Bhatt, who's in her Highway avatar and sporting gaalis with a lot of attitude. She is recovering from her drug addiction and comes across Tommy. The pair is also chased by Punjabi actor Diljit Dosanjh, a cop hellbent on taking down the drug mafia. There's also Kareena Kapoor as a doctor who tells the cop about the drug conditions in Punjab.

The trailer is also an ode to the undying spirit of the land of five rivers.

The premise is promising and the trailer gripping. It pits four talented people against one another in a combustive environment. Needless to say, they all deliver. Through their dialogues, acting chops and body langue.

The background score is powerful, while the dialogue delivery is rustic and relatable. The actors' chemistry is also enviable.

Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, the movie is set to release on June 17, 2016.
